How your IP is detected

Your IP address is read from the X-Forwarded-For header, which my reverse proxy adds in front of this web server.

Browsers only use one of the two IP families when connecting to a website (they usually prefer IPv6). To detect both, this site makes you connect to v4.cycasc.net (A record) and v6.cycasc.net (AAAA record) separately.

When does my IP address change?

Your IPv4 address and IPv6 prefix (the first half of the address) usually change when you or your ISP reconnects your router.

If Privacy Extensions are enabled, the IPv6 interface identifier (the second half of the address) typically changes every hour. Without Privacy Extensions it stays stable.
